WAYNE VINEY         Australia       1949 -

Wayne Viney holds a Diploma Art and Design, Swinburne College, Melbourne, and currently lives and works in Melbourne. He is a printmaker and painter, best known for his hauntingly evocative twilight studies in monotype and oil paint. Monotype is his preferred medium. He was introduced to the monotype technique in the early 1980s and found the medium ideal for his depictions of landscape and the effects of light in nature.  His work has gradually moved from a more literal interpretation of the landscape to a simplified format devoid of obvious physical reference points, with greater emphasis placed on colour. His work is held in numerous public and private collections, including the National Gallery of Australia; Parliament House, Canberra; Orange Regional Gallery, NSW; Charles Sturt University, NSW.
