KEVIN LINCOLN        Australia   1941 -

Kevin Lincoln is known for his abstract, still life and portrait painting. Within his distilled landscapes, of which texture is a vital component, sit recognisable objects and shapes. These often have personal significance for the artist and have been viewed as elements contributing to a type of self-portrait – one that is an alternative to the physical image.Lincoln has held numerous solo exhibitions, including Kevin Lincoln – Paintings and Drawings from the 80s, Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery, Launceston and touring (1990), and a survey exhibition at the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery (1988–89). He was included in Snap Freeze: Still Life in the Twenty-first Century, TarraWarra Museum of Art, Victoria (2007), and was the subject of a monograph, Kevin Lincoln: art and life, written by Hendrick Kolenberg (2006). His works are held in the collections of the National Gallery of Australia, National Gallery of Victoria, Art Gallery of New South Wales and several regional galleries.
