CRISS CANNING Australia 1974 -
Criss Canning, born in Melbourne in 1974 is one of Australia’s leading still life artists. Her highly accomplished work is sumptuous in colour, complex in design and sensuous in effect. The objects in her work - flowers, ceramics, trays and fabrics - are arranged and rearranged until a wonderful balance and harmony is achieved. A major retrospective of Criss’ work Gallery in 2007 broke all records for the Ballarat Fine Art Gallery before attracting a further 40,000 people at the Mornington Peninsula regional Art Gallery. Criss Canning is represented at the National Gallery of Australia, the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the Ballarat Fine Art Gallery, the Castlemaine Art Gallery and in collections in London, Paris, Hong Kong, Japan, Canada, USA, Indonesia, Singapore and NZ.
